Patanjali Ayurved was started by Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, 10 years ago in Haridwar, and since then, there has been no looking back! As underdogs they started and pulled of a huge empire which no FMCG company could have ever dreamed of!
Slowly and gradually, Patanjali Ayurved has become the fastest growing FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) with a supremely remarkable turnover of 5000 crores in 2015-16. You may either like Baba Ramdev or hate him, but you definitely can’t ignore him! He is the man behind the thought and along with his fellow, Balkrishna, who is the managing director and primary stakeholder of Patanjali Ayurved, this FMCG company today is giving nightmares to already established huge profit making companies like P&G, Colgate, Hindustan Unilever, etc. to which Ramdev wittily remarks that ,”Nestle ka panchhi udne wala hai, Colgate ka gate band hone wala hai..” 🙂
Ramdev follows Gandhiji’s motto of ‘Swadeshi apnao‘ and his biggest motive is that the country should become self reliant, country’s money should stay in the country and should be used in the welfare of the countrymen. Hence he is using the profits in that direction. With the profits, he dreams to open a world class university, he’s using the money for education, research and also for cows’ welfare. He also claims that in the next one year he is working towards doubling the revenue to minimum 10 thousand crore rupees!
It might interest you to know that Patanjali has broken many records and also some of the rules of corporate marketing and advertising which were existing before Patanjali came. In one of the interviews, Baba Ramdev gave a very strong point that all the other FMCG companies use actors, actresses (who charge a whopping amount) as their brand ambassadors for marketing their products. But Patanjali uses actual data, lab reports and facts for marketing and advertising purposes. Which proves that if you really have a pure product which can stand out in the market, you don’t need a good face for advertisements. And today, big professionals who were at good positions in the other FMCG companies, are coming to Baba Ramdev!
Patanjali has undoubtedly become a household favourite and among the list of products that Patanjali manufactures, the most preferred products are – Ghee, Aloe vera Gel, Biscuits, Toothpaste, Shampoo and Amla Juice.
Baba Ramdev is indeed systematically planning and executing his mission towards Patanjali Ayurved’s tremendous success! He is not only using patriotism in right direction but also generating the patriotic sentiment among Indians to use India -made products and help India becoming Financially independent.
If he keeps on going like this, soon there will be a time when Baba Ramdev will address Harvard on strategic planning and execution of a brilliantly successful empire and that too a charitable one!
