Sindhu settles with Silver

The most anticipated women’s singles badminton final match between PV Sindhu (India) and Carolina Marin (Spain) ended with a fabulous win to the Spanish player Marin. With this the Indian dreams of the very first Gold Medal in badminton shattered.

Sindhu fought hard and played really well against the left-handed world No.1 Marin giving tough competition to her in all the sets but ended with the score line of 1-2 (21-19, 12-21, 15-21 ).

Nevertheless, this was the first time an Indian shuttler reached an Olympics final and reaching this feat is in itself a great achievement. Sindhu turned the Bronze medal won by Saina Nehwal in previous Olympics to Silver.

India’s medal tally in this year’s Olympics is now 2 with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal won by PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik(Wrestling) respectively.
